Defending Democracy
I will always protect our democratic institutions and make sure every Marylander's voice is heard at the ballot box.
I’m fighting for a government that works for the people — not against them. That means defending our democratic institutions, strengthening protections for voting rights, and empowering every Marylander to take part in shaping our shared future. I will resist authoritarianism in all its forms and oppose any attempt to weaken our democracy, silence dissent, or concentrate power away from the people. I will also stand firmly against anti-democratic subversion — efforts to undermine elections, suppress votes, spread disinformation, or erode the rule of law. Our democracy depends on vigilance, and I am committed to protecting it at every level.
Education
Every child deserves access to a great education that prepares them for the future, no matter their ZIP code.
Our educators deserve both support and a voice in the decisions that shape our schools. I will work to ensure that teachers have the resources they need to succeed in the classroom and that their expertise guides education policy. Every child should have access to a quality education, no matter their ZIP code, and we must uphold accountability in both funding and outcomes to make that a reality.
I will also work to limit excessive standardized testing, freeing teachers to focus on what they do best — teaching and inspiring students.
Combating Gun Violence
Families should feel safe in their homes and neighborhoods. I’ll work to strengthen trust and safety in our communities.
Gun violence is a public health and safety crisis that demands smart, responsible solutions. I will fight to disarm domestic abusers and ensure responsible, safe gun ownership through education and training. We need universal background checks, extended waiting periods for firearm purchases, and the reining in of concealed carry permits to protect our communities. I support the renewal of the assault weapons ban and the implementation of microstamping for new handguns to aid law enforcement. Additionally, gun manufacturers should be held accountable — eliminating liability protections ensures they take responsibility for the safety of the products they sell. Together, these measures can reduce gun violence while respecting responsible ownership.
Immigration
I want an economy that works for everyone — not just the wealthy and well-connected.
Every day, John works to welcome New Americans from across the globe and empower immigrant communities to thrive. Maryland should be a place where all residents can live without fear, and where everyone’s constitutionally guaranteed rights are fully protected. He will fight to safeguard unaccompanied minors, resist overreach by ICE, and expand protections under the Sensitive Locations law to keep our schools, hospitals, and places of worship safe. By building a truly welcoming state, we can ensure that New Americans are supported, valued, and free to contribute fully to our shared future.
Affordability
No family should feel priced out of building a future in Maryland.
Rising costs are making it harder for families to make ends meet. Groceries, energy, and housing have all become increasingly expensive, putting a strain on household budgets and limiting opportunities for growth. John is committed to fighting for policies that help lower these costs, expand access to affordable housing, and ensure that working families can thrive without constantly worrying about making ends meet. No one should have to choose between putting food on the table, keeping the lights on, or finding a safe place to call home.
Healthcare
Healthcare is a right, not a privilege — and I’ll fight to make it affordable and accessible for every Marylander.
Every Marylander deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of income without barriers or disparities. Preventative care is the key to improving patients’ quality of life, achieving better health outcomes, and reducing long-term costs. That’s why John is committed to expanding access to mental health services, ensuring that Marylanders have the support they need to thrive emotionally and physically. Healthcare is a fundamental right, and I will fight to make sure our system works for people — not profits.
